About me
Mr Satish Maddineni graduated from the University Of Edinburgh Medical School in 1996. His basic surgical training was at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff. After a 2 year period of research in Bladder and Prostate cancer with Cancer Research UK, based at the Christie Hospital in Manchester, Mr Maddineni gained the higher degree of MD in targeted therapies in the treatment of muscle invasive bladder cancer affiliated to the University of Manchester.
His higher specialist Urology training has been undertaken in the North West Deanery with specialist urological oncology surgical training throughout at tertiary cancer centres. Mr Maddineni has also undertaken further training in laparoscopic radical bilateral nerve sparing prostatectomy at the Erasmus University in Brussels, Belgium under the mentorship of one of Europe’s leading minimally invasive laparoscopic prostate cancer surgeons.
Mr Maddineni was appointed as a Consultant Urologist at Mid Cheshire NHS Foundation Trust where he was the Cancer Lead and subsequently the Clinical Lead for the Urology department. He was involved with the successful amalgamation of urological cancer services with Stockport NHS Trust.
Relocating to Manchester, Mr Maddineni is now the lead in minimally invasive urological surgery at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust, one of the North West’s premier urological units and NHS Trusts. Here he mentors surgical trainees and fellow Consultants in minimally invasive surgical techniques. He is the Cancer Lead for Urological Surgery at the Trust and is the Chairman of Urological Cancer services for the Greater Manchester and Cheshire cancer network (Manchester Cancer), the largest cancer network outside London. Mr Maddineni also practices at the Christie Hospital, one of Europes leading cancer treatment centres, where he provides robotic surgery to complex renal cancers for the population of Greater Manchester. Mr Maddineni has recently chaired the NHS England commissioned Vanguard task force reviewing prostate cancer diagnostics across England. Through this group NHS England is now implementing the use of MRI prostate scans to improve the diagnosis of prostate cancer. Mr Maddineni now leads the implementation of this in Greater Manchester with the recent introduction of the straight to MRI diagnostic prostate cancer pathway in his cancer network.
