About me
Dr. Ravi Ramessur is a UK-US trained clinical-academic consultant dermatologist dedicated to providing comprehensive, holistic care while ensuring his patients have access to the most advanced and effective treatments. He balances his private practice with his ongoing role as a clinical researcher and NHS consultant, offering his expertise in both settings.
Dr. Ramessur has a specialist interest in inflammatory skin conditions, including psoriasis, eczema, acne, and rosacea. He also has extensive experience in diagnosing and managing warts, cysts, mole checks, rosacea, vitiligo, and skin cancer, consulting with both children and adults.
He completed his medical training at the University of Cambridge and the University of Oxford before undertaking specialist dermatology training in London and Cambridge. Following his dermatology training, he completed a PhD at the St John's Institute of Dermatology in London, focusing on the impact of lifestyle factors and genetics on psoriasis and its related health issues. He subsequently advanced his research through prestigious post-doctoral clinical and research fellowships at the University of Pennsylvania supported by the International Psoriasis Council and National Psoriasis Foundation.
Dr. Ramessur's clinical and research work has earned him numerous national and international awards. He has published over 50 peer-reviewed articles, including contributions to high-impact journals such as The Lancet, Nature Genetics, JAMA Cardiology, Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology (JAAD), Journal of Investigative Dermatology (JID), and British Journal of Dermatology (BJD).
He is frequently invited to present his findings at major international conferences. In the last 5 years, he has presented at research conferences in Amsterdam, Brussels, Chicago, Dubai, Freiberg, Glasgow, Liverpool, London, Madrid, New Orleans, Oregon, Oslo, Paris, Philadelphia, San Diego, Singapore, Southampton, Tokyo, and Trondheim.
Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Ramessur is committed to advancing dermatology and healthcare more broadly through active roles in several key national organisations, including:
- The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) Technology Appraisal committee: Ensuring new medical treatments are effective and cost-efficient for NHS use.
- British Journal of Dermatology AI and Emerging Technology- Section Editor: Facilitating the appraisal and publication of the highest quality, impactful research utilising AI and advanced technologies (including wearables) for the BJD.
- UK-AI Skin Consortium (Vice Chair of Research arm):
Exploring the potential of artificial intelligence to enhance the diagnosis and treatment of skin conditions.

Dr Ramessur has a specialist interest in inflammatory skin conditions, including psoriasis, eczema, acne, and rosacea.
