About me

I am a Consultant Cardiologist at Derby Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, a role I have held since 2015. I also work as a visiting consultant at Nottingham City Hospital and Royal Stoke Hospital, providing specialist cardiac care across the region.
I qualified as a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (London) in 2007 and completed my cardiology training at the Bristol Heart Institute. During my training, I developed advanced expertise in cardiac rhythm management, heart failure, and modern cardiac imaging, including cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR).
My clinical interests include general adult cardiology, heart failure, heart rhythm disorders (arrhythmias), and advanced cardiac imaging such as echocardiography and CMR. I specialise in complex cardiac device therapies, including pacemakers, implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs), and cardiac resynchronisation therapy (CRT). I also have a growing interest in inherited heart conditions, cardiac CT scanning, and non-invasive assessment of coronary artery disease.
I am a certified Cardiac Device Specialist with the Heart Rhythm Society (USA), hold Level 3 accreditation in cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging through the European Society of Cardiology, and am accredited in adult transthoracic echocardiography by the British Society of Echocardiography.

I offer comprehensive assessment and management for a wide range of heart conditions. I commonly see patients with symptoms such as:

Chest pain
Breathlessness
Palpitations
Irregular heart rhythms (including atrial fibrillation)
Dizziness, blackouts, or fainting
Ankle swelling

I provide a full range of diagnostic tests and treatments, including:

Echocardiography (including stress, contrast, and transoesophageal echo)
Cardiac MRI
Pacemaker and ICD implantation
Cardiac resynchronisation therapy for heart failure

My approach is focused on clear communication, ensuring patients feel informed, reassured, and supported at every stage of their care.
