About me

Dr Richard Morton is an experienced physician with UK certification in Respiratory Medicine (Pulmonology) and General Internal Medicine. He practices within the NHS at the Royal Brompton Hospital, one of the country's leading heart and lung units and a part of Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Trust; he also sees patients privately at Nuffield Health Parkside Hospital in Southwest London. His clinical interests include respiratory infections, bronchiectasis (including cystic fibrosis), lung nodules and lung cancer, asthma, COPD, OSA and the investigation of unexplained cough and breathlessness.

Dr Morton studied medicine at the University of Oxford, graduating with a BM BCh in 2010, having previously completed a BSc in Human Sciences at University College London in 2006. He is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP), the British Thoracic Society (BTS) and the European Respiratory Society (ERS). Alongside his clinical practice, he undertook a Clinical Research Training Fellowship at Imperial College London, focusing on the bacterium Pseudomonas aeruginosa and contributing to several academic publications.

Dr Morton is passionate about education. He takes great pleasure in teaching and mentoring junior doctors and medical students, helping to train and develop the next generation of healthcare professionals.

A strong believer in the importance of kindness in healthcare, Dr Morton prides himself in being a clear and honest communicator, always striving to give his patients excellent care through shared decision making. He is happiest working within enthusiastic, multi-disciplinary teams that can deliver high-quality, holistic care.
