About me
I am a Consultant Urologist with a specialist interest in oncology, particularly renal and prostate cancer. I have a broad scope of Private Practise including management of benign enlarged prostate, urinary infections, blood in the urine, circumcision, scrotal conditions, pelvic pain.
Having trained and qualified in South Africa, I came to the UK in 1997 and underwent further training at The Middlesex, Charing Cross, Whipps Cross and Addenbrookes hospitals. I commenced a full time consultant post at St George's Hospital in 1999.
I was an early adopter of minimally invasive surgery and did fellowships at the Cleveland Clinic (Ohio); Jackson University Hospital in (Miami) ; Henry Ford hospital (Detroit) and University Hospital (Leipzig) where I developed skills originally in laparoscopy but subsequently in Robotic Surgery for Prostate and Renal Cancer.
I was part of a small team of surgeons who introduced robotic surgery to the UK in 2005 and since then have converted all my surgeries for prostate and renal cancer to the robotic approach.
I was the first person to introduce laparoscopic renal cryotherapy to the UK in 2004.
In 2025 I learned Single port robotics which is now my default approach to radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer and partial nephrectomy , pyeloplasty in renal surgery.
I have played an active role in Clinical research and have been Faculty Member and Guest Speaker at numerous National conferences. I have had a large number of abstracts accepted for presentation at conferences and am well published . I edited a book on Renal Cancer : current status and innovation, in 2024 .
