About me

After graduating from Cambridge University and Manchester University, Mr Ian Botterill trained in Sheffield, Liverpool and Leeds. He also visited a unit in Copenhagen that specialises in enhanced recovery after large bowel surgery.

Mr Botterill's specialist interests also include surgery for complex incisional hernias, intestinal complications of radiotherapy and pilonidal sinus disease. He conducts specialist clinics at LGI for teenagers who require follow-up into adulthood and patients with radiation enteritis.

Mr Botterill is Lead Clinician for Colorectal Surgery at Leeds Teaching Hospitals. He is also a trainer in Abdominal Wall Reconstruction for three UK / European companies who manufacture synthetic and biologic mesh for incisional hernia repair.
