About me

Mr Jamil Ahmed is a highly accomplished Consultant Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon with over 30 years of experience in the NHS. He is a Council Member of both the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) and the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS), reflecting his national standing in the specialty.
Throughout his career, Mr Ahmed has performed thousands of complex plastic surgery procedures, earning a reputation as a skilled and trusted surgeon. His clinical expertise spans all major subspecialties of plastic and reconstructive surgery, including hand surgery, skin oncology, breast surgery, and aesthetic procedures.
Following his specialist training in Southwest England and London, Mr Ahmed played a leading role in establishing the Hand Surgery service at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital, where he worked for ten years before relocating to Aberdeen in 2014. He served as Head of the Plastic Surgery Department at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary from 2019 to 2024 and continues to practise there as Consultant Plastic Surgeon.
Mr Ahmed holds the FRCS (Plast) and is on the GMC Specialist Register for Plastic Surgery. He also holds a European Fellowship in Plastic Surgery and a European Diploma in Hand Surgery. In recognition of his leadership in surgery, he completed the prestigious Surgical Leadership Program at Harvard Medical School.
He is deeply committed to education and training, serving as a GMC-recognised trainer, a long-standing member of the Scottish Training Committee (STC), and the Specialty Advisory Committee (SAC) in Plastic Surgery. He is also a Fellow of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. In addition, he directs two internationally recognised courses in Hand and Flap Surgery, held annually in Aberdeen.
Mr Ahmed combines extensive surgical expertise with a passion for excellence in patient care, education, and professional leadership.
