About me
Dr Alpa Kanji is a Consultant Dermatologist specialising in the care of adults and children with a wide range of skin, hair and scalp conditions. She is highly experienced in treating eczema, acne, psoriasis, rosacea, pigmentation disorders, vitiligo and hair loss, and has a particular expertise in paediatric dermatology. She also performs mole checks, skin cancer screening and minor skin surgery.
Patients value Dr Kanji for her warm, thoughtful and holistic approach. She believes in taking time to listen carefully to each patient's concerns, providing clear explanations and creating personalised treatment plans that are both evidence-based and practical. Her aim is to help patients feel confident, informed and fully supported throughout their care.
Dr Kanji is a Consultant Dermatologist at St John's Institute of Dermatology, part of Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust � internationally recognised as one of the UK's leading centres for dermatology. She is also Clinical Lead for Paediatric Dermatology at University Hospital Lewisham.
She studied Medicine at King's College London and completed her specialist dermatology training in London. She has undertaken further international training at Harvard University's Brigham and Women's Hospital, and completed an advanced fellowship in paediatric dermatology at St John's Institute of Dermatology.
Alongside her medical degree, Dr Kanji holds a degree in Natural Sciences and a PhD in Molecular Microbiology from the University of Cambridge. She remains actively involved in dermatology research and has published iher work in peer-reviewed journals. She has also held an honorary role as Senior Clinical Lecturer at Imperial College London.
Dr Kanji has been appointed to the Executive Committee of the British Society of Paediatric and Adolescent Dermatology, helping to shape national standards of care in paediatric dermatology across the UK. She also serves on the Medical Advisory Board for the National Eczema Society.
Dr Kanji is passionate about helping patients of all ages regain confidence in their skin and improve their quality of life through compassionate, evidence-based care.
