About me
Dr Alan Desmond treats patients with a broad range of recent-onset and longstanding problems affecting their stomach and bowel. He has particular expertise in the assessment and treatment of patients with inflammatory bowel disease (ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease), heartburn, reflux oesophagitis, Barrett’s oesophagus and patients with irritable bowel syndrome and other functional disorders of the gastro-intestinal tract. Alan works in close collaboration with clinical dieticians who have specific expertise in the dietary management of gastro-intestinal disorders. Alan performs gastroscopies and colonoscopies on-site at Mount Stuart Hospital and works to ensure that waiting times for these important tests are kept as short as possible.
