About me
Mr?Straw, born in Derby, began his career as a professional footballer with Derby County FC before pursuing a vocation in medicine. He graduated from the University of Leicester in 1996 and completed his orthopaedic training in Nottingham and Derby.
In 2006, Mr?Straw undertook a prestigious fellowship in Sports Knee Surgery under the renowned Mr?Mark Clatworthy in New Zealand, where he gained extensive experience treating elite rugby players.
Following an additional knee fellowship with Mr?Straw, he was appointed Consultant Knee Surgeon at the Royal Derby Hospital in 2007.
Mr?Straw specialises in all aspects of knee surgery and provides comprehensive care at the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton.
Alongside his expertise in sports?related knee injuries, Mr?Straw has significant experience in partial knee replacement surgery. He played a key role in the design, development, and implementation of the Persona Partial Knee Replacement in 2017, a system now used globally.
He also jointly leads the Acute Knee Injuries Clinic with Mr?Geutjens and Mr?Bhangoo, and maintains an active private practice at Derby Nuffield Hospital and the Royal Derby Hospital.
