About me

Born and educated in Scotland, Dr Donald Gibb graduated in Medicine from the University of Edinburgh. He worked at King’s College Hospital in London for 15 years, specialising in obstetrics and gynaecology, and in 1990 became Director of Women’s Services. In 1995 he became Head of Teaching in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at King’s College Hospital Medical School. In 1997 he increased his private practice, and resigned from the National Health Service in 1999. Dr Gibb had gained further knowledge and valuable experience from a year spent working in Africa (1976) and more than two years in Singapore (1981-1983).

Dr Gibb is a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and was awarded the Gold Medal in 1980. He was made a member of the Royal College of Physicians in 1981 and a fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 1991. In 1990 he was awarded an MD from Edinburgh University for research work on labour and delivery carried out in Singapore.

Since 2000 Dr Gibb has worked in independent practice. Until 2017 Dr Gibb delivered babies privately and operated at The Portland Hospital. Since retiring from inpatient work in 2017 he has focused on developing The Birth Company clinics in Harley Street, London and Alderley Edge, Cheshire. There he employs and supervises sonographers performing high quality ultrasound scans in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
