About me
Andrew is a Counselling Psychologist with twenty years' experience having worked in the NHS and for AXAPPP as a national clinical manager and clinical assessor. Working in private practice for thirteen years, Andrew has worked closely with psychiatrists and rehabilitation organisations and has over 20,000 client-hours accrued. His master's degree and doctoral theses examined how men engage and experience psychological therapy and some of his research has been published. Affiliated to the Men's Health Forum, Andrew has spoken at many conferences and lobbied parliament to improve men's access to therapeutic services. However, his clinical practice is certainly not confined to working only with men and his practice enjoys and welcomes all people. With neuro-divergent family members, Andrew has also worked extensively with neurodiversity clients and currently also supports people with a recent diagnosis.
Areas of interest
Andrew uses an integrative approach to therapy, drawing on a range of models to suit each individual's needs including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), adapted CBT, trauma-focused CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and EMDR. This provides flexibility to work in a way that best suits each person's needs. Typical presentations include Depression; anxiety; OCD; health anxiety; phobias, social anxiety; trauma; PTSD; etc.
