About me
Mr Howard Marsh qualified in 1993 from Bristol University Medical School. He went on to do his Basic Surgical Training in London and Higher Surgical Training in Oxford, gaining his MD in Genetic Polymorphisms in Bladder Cancer Angiogenesis in 2005. He passed FRCS (Urol) in 2007.
He took up post as Consultant Urologist at Medway Maritime Hospital in December 2008.
Whilst he is part of the urology on-call rota and is experienced in and enjoys all aspects of general urology, his special interests are minimally invasive treatments of the upper tract and all aspects of urological stone disease.
He has been instrumental in setting up a fully comprehensive Stone Centre together with Mr S Sriprasad. All cases are discussed and managed by the team and techniques include rigid and flexible ureteroscopy and laser stone fragmentation, percutaneous nephrolithotomy, extracorporeal lithotripsy and laparoscopy. He has strong links with Darent Valley Hospital where he operates every fortnight.
He is currently playing a lead role in The Productive Operating Theatre programme at Medway, which is committed to improving patient safety and working practice within theatres. He is also involved in implementing an Enhanced Recovery Programme whereby patient pre-, peri- and post-operative care is streamlined to improve patient outcome and experience.
