About me

Mr Sehat is a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon based at Nottingham University Hospital.
His expertise covers hip and knee surgery including advanced techniques and high performance implants.
He has treated patients at the Nottingham Spire Hospital since 2019. By the time of publication in 2026, none of Mr Sehat's hip or knee replacements has developed an infection or hip dislocation, indicating a low likelihood of complications in future.
For detailed information please visit Mr Sehat's website.

Hip replacements:
This surgery relieves pain in cases of severe hip arthritis.
Mr Sehat is the only surgeon in the region trained in the modern 'Rttinger' technique for hip replacement with rapid recovery and negligible risk of fracture or dislocation.
Traditionally, hip replacements have involved cuts in muscle which take time to heal and can dislocate or the direct anterior hip replacement which is also prone to fractures and dislocations.
Mr Sehat also exclusively offers the Excia-Plasmafit hip implant with a fully ceramic bearing. This advanced implant avoids some of the complications of conventional implants such as fractures and has a realistic chance of lasting for life even in younger patients.

Hip tendon problems and other 'soft-tissue' conditions:
Many cases of hip pain or muscle weakness involve tendon inflammation, impingement or 'labrum' cartilage tears. If you have hip pain or weakness and have been told the hip is not the cause, you may be suffering with a 'soft-tissue' problem which can be treated with the right expertise.

Knee replacements:
This surgery relieves pain in cases of severe knee arthritis.
Most knee replacements are performed with a standard technique, which may not suit every patient.
Mr Sehat has the most expertise in Nottingham in individualised surgery for the closest match between the individual patient's knee and the implant, having performed this technique since 2013.
Some surgeons try to individualise by positioning the implant with a tilt; however, this may compromise the durability of the implant. Mr Sehat's technique achieves biomechanical individualisation, with solid and durable straight implant positioning. This is possible with the 'Orthopilot' computer guided system which he has been involved in developing.
Mr Sehat routinely trains surgeons from all parts of the world in these techniques at an 'Aesculap Academia' facility in Germany.
Mr Sehat exclusively offers the Columbus implant with a ceramic coating which is harder wearing than standard metal implants and achieves the best published durability record.
Mr Sehat also offers the 'Conformis' bespoke knee replacement made for each patient for the best possible fit. (Available privately at additional cost).

Clinics:
Mr Sehat holds regular clinics at Spire Nottingham Hospital. The emphasis is on taking time to understand your symptoms and concerns and to explain treatment options with clarity and to your satisfaction.
Treatment plans include weight management, nutrition and exercise alongside surgery and medicines (including weight loss medication if required) for safe and effective treatment of painful and debilitating conditions of the hip and knee.

About Mr Sehat:
Mr Sehat graduated from the University of Bristol, undertook specialist training in Orthopaedic Surgery in Nottingham and New Zealand and took up a post as Consultant in 2008.
He treats emergency and complex cases at Nottingham University Hospital where he is also a 'Clinical Governance Lead' with responsibility for quality assurance in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery. He has previously held the position of Deputy Director in the Department of Surgery.
Mr Sehat has established and chairs the Trent regional network for the treatment of Metastatic Bone Disease (secondary cancer) and performs the complex surgery for these conditions.
He is on an international panel of surgeons studying and optimising the outcomes of knee replacement surgery (Pheno4U).
