About me

Mr Sean Symons is a highly experienced Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising exclusively in knee surgery for both adults and children. Appointed in 2008, he combines extensive NHS leadership with a busy specialist private practice.
He treats a wide range of knee conditions, including sports injuries, ligament damage, cartilage injuries, meniscal tears, patellofemoral instability and arthritis. His expertise includes ACL reconstruction, complex multi-ligament surgery, meniscal repair, cartilage regeneration, and realignment osteotomies. He has a particular interest in joint-preserving surgery and is recognised as a UK leader in stem-cell�based cartilage regeneration, having successfully performed this procedures within the NHS for more than 10 years..
Mr Symons is also highly regarded in paediatric and adolescent knee surgery, managing conditions affecting growing children and young athletes.
He qualified from The Royal London Medical School in 1994 and completed specialist training and fellowships in knee surgery and paediatric orthopaedics, including in Melbourne. He is Clinical Director for Trauma and Orthopaedics at Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust and consults privately at Nuffield Health Brentwood Hospital.
