About me
Hemant Kocher is Professor of Liver and Pancreas Surgery at the Barts Cancer Institute, Queen Mary, University of London. He is also Consultant Surgeon at the Royal London and St Bartholomews Hospitals.
He obtained his medical degree from Mumbai, India with a number of distinctions and University Gold medals and academic prizes. He trained in liver and pancreas surgery at the KEM Hospital, Mumbai, Tata Memorial Hospital Mumbai and Kings College Hospital, London. He has been a Visiting Fellow to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre, New York, USA; Mayo Clinic, Rochester, USA; Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, USA: University of Verona, Italy, and Hôpital Paul Brousse, Paris, France. He has been awarded a number of prestigious national and international awards such as the Pancreatic Society Travelling Fellow, NIHR Clinician Scientist, Cutler’s Fellow, GSK Young Fellow and Agostino Trappani International Prize amongst others.
His clinical interests include surgery of the gall bladder and bile duct, the liver and the pancreas. He also performs general and laparoscopic operations and operations for hernias. His research interests include: liver cancer; pancreatic cancer; role of stroma in cancer progression; developing new treatments, diagnostic tests and surgical techniques; meta-analyses and clinical trials.
Hemant is on the attending staff at the London Clinic and the BMI London Independent Hospital. He consults on Wednesday 1700-1930 at 120 Harley Street.
