About me
I underwent orthopaedic training in the Southeast Thames and London region, and then undertook fellowship training in my areas of specialist interest, knee replacement and knee injuries. This took me to the Adidas Sports Medicine Centre in Auckland, New Zealand, where I worked with the orthopaedic team treating the All Blacks, and then to the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford, where I gained further experience in lower limb joint replacement surgery. I started in my post as Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Torbay Hospital in 2008, and have pursued an interest in rapid rehabilitation after knee replacement surgery. I have pioneered the introduction of day case unicompartmental knee replacement surgery in this post, now being one of the few departments in the country to be able to offer this. I also have an interest in enhanced training technology, such as the use of internet-enabled video devices to record operations (Google Glass), and can offer patient specific devices to improve knee replacement surgery.
I live in South Devon with my wife and two children.
Areas of interest
Cartilage repair; Knee replacement surgery; Ligament reconstruction including anterior cruciate ligament; Patient specific knee replacement surgery; Partial / Unicompartmental knee replacement; Day-case knee replacement surgery
