About me

Dr Sanjay Jain is a visiting Consultant at The Priory Hospital, Woking. He also works as a full time General Adult Psychiatrist within the NHS, based in Horsham, and covering West Sussex. He is multi lingual and fluent in Hindi, Urdu, Gujarati and Bengali.

Dr Jain is an “Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer” at Brighton and Sussex Medical School. He is a member of the Trust Drug and Therapeutic Committee and has drafted various prescribing guidelines (Depression, Bipolar Disorder, etc). He also represents Consultants Psychiatrist on the Trust Risk Panel.

He was nominated for the Unsung Hero award, Future Focus award, and also Excellence in Research Award. He is a Lead Clinician for Adult ADHD, and has set up and runs an ADHD Service covering West Sussex, for which he received the Clinical Excellence Award.

Training and Previous Appointments

Dr Jain became a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) in 2002, and completed his Specialist Registrar training with the Hampshire NHS Trust in 2007. He has worked in a forensic medium secured unit (Ravenswood House) and also at Winchester Prison. He was an Honorary Lecturer at Southampton University. He also obtained a Diploma in Advanced Professional Development in Clinical & Health Sciences in 2007, a Professional Certificate in Management (Health & Social Care) in 2009, and studied for a Post Graduate Certificate in Clinical Education in 2010.

Special Interests

Dr Jain has a wide range of experience in the management of common mental illnesses but has a Special Interest in the management of Adult Attention Deficit / Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Bipolar Disorder, Asperger Syndrome and compiling Court Reports.

Research and Publications

Dr Jain is a Research Lead within the NHS, and has set up an ADHD and Mental Health Research Unit (AMHRU) in Horsham. He is actively involved as Principal Investigator in various clinical trials on ADHD, Bipolar Disorder, Depression, OCD, Schizophrenia etc., and has carried out Poster Presentations both nationally and internationally.

Dr Jain sees patient’s during weekdays and also at weekends. He will also carry out home visits, if appropriate and needed.
