About me
Mr Walid Abou Samra graduated from the University of Pecs, Hungary in 1995 with an MD in Medicine and completed Postgraduate Training in surgery at the same University, qualifying in General Surgery and Breast Surgery FRCS in 2001. He undertook a 12 month elective period in Plastic Surgery with prof Jean-Marie Servant in Hospital St Louis, Paris, France and oncoplastic mentorship at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital Breast Unit.which further stimulated a longstanding interest in breast, oncoplastic and aesthetic surgery.
Mr Walid Abou Samra underwent advanced training in plastic and reconstructive surgery and in 2002, completed further training in both aesthetic and breast surgery in Pecs University, Hungary.
In 2006, he moved with his family to Wales where he continues to work as a consultant at Betsi Cadwaladr University Local Health Board's Glan Clwyd Hospital, Bodelwyddan with interests in breast surgery, breast reconstruction and general surgery.
He has published articles on a broad range of topics covering aesthetic surgery and breast cancer surgery in peer reviewed journals and is the principle investigator in national and international trials.
He has specialized interests in breast cancer surgery and diagnosis, aesthetic breast surgery, including reconstructive and cosmetic breast surgery as well as general surgery.
He is Clinical Lecturer. Lead clinician for breast cancer in North Wales and an accredited Breast Test Wales Screening Surgeon. He is member of the national cancer advisory board.
He developed and established a new breast reconstructive service and promoted innovative techniques in breast cancer management in for the population of North Wales He constantly achieves excellent clinical outcomes and high patient satisfaction.
