About me
Mr Janos Balega is a Royal College accredited Gynaecological Surgeon and Gynaecological Oncologist with special expertise in gynaecological cancer care. He is well known in the United Kingdom as an expert gynaecological surgeon especially in laparoscopic surgery and cancer surgery.
He received his oncology training in Indianapolis, USA and at St Bartholomew’s Hospital and The Royal Marsden Hospital in London, UK.
He provides expert services for women with ovarian cysts, abnormal vaginal bleeding, smear abnormalities, abnormal cervix and colposcopy.
He counsels patients with increased risk for ovarian cancer and uterine cancer and runs the gynaecological genetics clinic in Birmingham.
He is an expert in the laparoscopic management of ovarian cysts, cancer of the uterus. He performs the whole range of cervical cancer operations including radical hysterectomy, lymphadenectomy, pelvic exenteration. He established fertility-sparing trachelectomy in the Midlands.
Mr Balega has received special training in ovarian cancer surgery and is an expert in ultra-radical ovarian cancer debulking surgery. He has an excellent track record of performing all aspect of ovarian cancer surgery and has set up a training masterclass for surgeons in the UK and worldwide to teach debulking surgery.
He regularly gives lectures in the UK and abroad and is active in clinical research in Gynaecological Oncology. He is a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, and many other learned societies in oncology, gynaecology and colposcopy.
Mr Balega holds an NHS post as Consultant Gynaecological Oncologist in the Pan-Birmingham Gynaecological Cancer Centre and has private practice in private hospitals across Birmingham.
