About me

Dr Colette Griffin specialises in traumatic brain injury (head injury, concussion). She developed and has run the traumatic brain injury (TBI) service at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for the last 15 years. She has a large international and national private patient base. She routinely reviews patients who wish to discuss concussion prevention and brain health (both sports and non sports related). Dr Griffin has published three invited book chapters, several invited leaflets for Headway and over 30 peer reviewed scientific papers. Dr Griffin frequently talks about concussion prevention at schools and rugby clubs nationally. Dr Griffin is passionate about TBI and also regularly teaches healthcare professionals and doctors.

Dr Griffin has published three invited book chapters, several invited educational leaflets for Headway, and over 30 peer reviewed scientific papers.
She is currently recruiting patients into the STOP-D clinical trial (Sertraline to prevent post TBI depression).
Dr griffin has also recently recruited into multiple other TBI research studies.
Her main area of interest is the use of surrogate MRI markers in the prognostication of TBI.

Personal interests

Dr Griffin is a keen skier. She is also a keen sailor, regularly racing inshore in the UK.
Dr Griffin has been passionate about rugby since a young age, and follows both her local and national teams.
Her interest in sport has led her to develop her passion about TBI.

Awards received

Dr Griffin's TBI team at St George's Hospital were recently awarded the Rehab Outcome of The Year award by NR Times 2023.

Dr Griffin runs the annual SGUL TBI short course (www.sgul.ac.uk/study/professional-education/short-courses/traumatic-brain-injury).
