About me

About me and my therapy practice:

At times when life becomes stressful we may feel anxious, frustrated and depressed. We develop ways of coping which feel helpful in the short term but can lead to unwanted consequences such as overthinking, procrastination, Imposter Syndrome, leaving you feeling undermined and bad about yourself.

Working together in a respectful and compassionate environment, we can talk things through and gain a shared understanding of what is going on for you, break the problem down using the CBT model and begin to figure out how to go forward.

CBT is a talking therapy with a practical approach and can be successfully applied to many problems. If you wish to discuss whether CBT is the right way forward for you, I would be happy to do so with an initial telephone call free of charge.

I have over 20 years experience of working as a therapist for the NHS and private practice. Having previously worked as a Registered Nurse for 12 years, I also have a broad knowledge of medical conditions.

Over time, I have developed a special interest in self-esteem. Low self-esteem can cause negative opinions of ourselves and lead to worrying excessively about what others might think, people pleasing, difficulties saying no, over apologising and more. As such it can affect our whole lives including our relationships.
If you are self-critical, feel nothing you do is ever good enough you may have low self-esteem and could benefit from CBT.

Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) are third wave therapies proving highly effective in helping people manage psychological problems. Over the last few years, I have received training in these approaches and if it is a good fit for you, aspects of these can be woven into therapy.

Talking really does help.
