About me

I have been a Consultant Spinal Surgeon for almost 20 years. I qualified from The University of Cambridge in 1991 and also have a degree from The University of London in Clinical Pharmacology. I have Higher Doctorate In molecular biology and was awarded a Gold Medal from the British Orthopaedic Association and a Hunterian Professorship from The Royal College of Surgeons of England in recognition of my work. I completed my spinal training both in England at The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital and on the Combined Neurosurgical and Orthopaedic Spinal Fellowship in Vancouver and at the University of British Columbia in Canada. I hold Fellowships in Surgery from both the Royal College of England and Edinburgh and the Intercollegiate Fellowship in Orthopaedics and Trauma. I teach regularly and hold an Honorary Professorship, chairing a multi disciplinary team meeting discussing complex cases on a regular basis. I teach undergraduates at The University of Birmingham as well as GP, physios and other allied health professional.
