About me
Dr Adrian Barnardo is a highly experienced doctor who specialises in diagnosing and treating conditions affecting the stomach, bowel, and liver. With more than 17 years as a consultant, he is known for his thorough, patient centred approach and clear, friendly communication.
He helps patients with a wide range of symptoms including heartburn, difficulty swallowing, abdominal pain, bloating, diarrhoea, constipation, rectal bleeding, jaundice and abnormal liver tests.
He also has specialist expertise in liver disease and offers advanced non invasive liver assessment using FibroScan technology.
Dr Barnardo is an expert in endoscopy and has been nationally accredited in bowel cancer screening since 2012. He performs procedures such as gastroscopy and colonoscopy, with a strong focus on early detection and prevention of cancer. His calm manner and clear explanations help patients feel at ease throughout the process.
He trained at the University of Nottingham and later worked at leading hospitals including King's College Hospital and Guy's and St Thomas'.
He holds advanced qualifications including Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians and Fellowship of the American Gastroenterology Association [recognitions awarded to doctors who demonstrate excellence and leadership in their field].
Alongside his clinical work, Dr Barnardo is dedicated to training the next generation of endoscopists and lectures at the University of Kent. He leads regional endoscopy services and has played a major role in improving the quality and safety of endoscopy across Kent and Medway.
