About me

I am a Consultant Urological Surgeon at Barts Health NHS Trust, based at The Royal London Hospital, with over 19 years' experience as a consultant. I provide expert assessment, investigation and treatment across the full spectrum of adult urological conditions, with a particular specialist interest in minimally invasive and endoscopic surgery of the upper urinary tract.

As a core member of the Urological Cancer Multidisciplinary Team (MDT), I am actively involved in the management of patients with kidney, ureteric, bladder and other urological cancers, ensuring that every patient benefits from evidence-based, multidisciplinary care. I also serve as the Clinical Lead and Governance Lead for Urology, leading service development, quality improvement and patient safety initiatives within one of the UK's largest urology departments.

I see patients with a wide range of urological concerns, whether they require an initial consultation, specialist investigation, treatment, or an independent second opinion. My practice is centred on providing clear explanations, personalised treatment plans and high-quality, compassionate care.

Areas of interest

My general urological practice covers the full spectrum of adult urology, including lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) and benign prostate enlargement (BPH); haematuria; urinary tract infections; kidney, ureteric and bladder stones; testicular and scrotal conditions (including pain, lumps, hydroceles and varicoceles); erectile dysfunction and male sexual health; vasectomy counselling and no-scalpel vasectomy; urinary incontinence and overactive bladder; elevated PSA and prostate assessment; and urological cancers, including kidney, ureteric, bladder, prostate and testicular cancer.

I provide a comprehensive, patient-centred stone service, offering minimally invasive treatments including flexible cystoscopy, rigid and flexible ureteroscopy, laser stone surgery (laser lithotripsy), ureteric stent insertion and removal, and metabolic assessment to help prevent recurrent stone disease.

Research interests

My research interests focus on urological oncology, urinary stone disease, minimally invasive and robotic surgery, and clinical outcomes research. I have published in peer-reviewed journals on prostate and bladder cancer, upper urinary tract disease, and endourology. I am actively involved in clinical audit, quality improvement and service development, with a particular interest in improving patient safety, enhancing surgical outcomes, and introducing innovative techniques into routine urological practice.

Personal interests

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, travelling, reading, and creative writing. I have a particular interest in medical education and mentoring the next generation of surgeons. I also enjoy keeping up to date with advances in minimally invasive and robotic surgery and am committed to lifelong learning and continuous professional development.

Merit awards for academic excellence in Genetics, Biochemistry, Pathology and Surgery during medical school.
Nominated for the Excellence Awards in recognition of outstanding teaching and educational contribution to third-year medical students at Queen Mary University of London.

Publications

I have authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and conference abstracts in the fields of urological oncology, endourology and minimally invasive surgery. My research has focused on prostate and bladder cancer, urinary stone disease, upper urinary tract pathology, and innovations in endourological practice. My work has been published in journals including the International Journal of Cancer, European Journal of Cancer, Urologia Internationalis, BMJ Case Reports, Journal of Clinical Urology, and the BJU International, and has been presented at national and international meetings, including the European Association of Urology (EAU) Congress and the World Congress of Endourology.

Courses offered to GPs

Throughout my consultant career, I have delivered educational lectures and seminars to GPs and healthcare professionals on common urological conditions. Topics include lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS), benign prostate enlargement, haematuria, PSA assessment, prostate and testicular cancer, urinary stone disease, urinary tract infections, and NICE referral pathways. I also contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate medical education
