About me

Mr. Ewan Kannegieter, founder of Kann Foot Surgery, is a Consultant Podiatric Surgeon with over 20 years’ experience in the foot business. He undertakes over 800 surgical foot procedures each year.

Based in central Essex at the Phoenix Hospital Chelmsford Mr. Kannegieter provides effective, pain-relieving solutions for many foot and ankle conditions, including bunions, hammertoes, heel pain and many other foot issues.

A previous winner of the Glasgow Caledonian University Clinical Medicine Prize, he graduated with a distinction in Podiatric Medicine in 1999 and went on to further his training in Bishops Stortford, Epping, Colchester, Ilkeston and Reading before gaining his fellowship in Podiatric Surgery in 2012 and certificate of completion of podiatric surgical training in 2016.

Following 3 years as a Specialist Registrar in Podiatric Surgery at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust, Mr. Kannegieter relocated to the Essex countryside, where he now works both privately and for the NHS as a Consultant Podiatric Surgeon. Over the past 20 years, Mr. Kannegieter has honed his skills and experience in a broad range of elective foot surgery and has developed a special interest in diabetic limb salvage surgery, and the rheumatoid foot.

Mr. Kannegieter holds an NHS post as a Consultant Podiatric Surgeon at Braintree Community Hospital in Essex, employed by Provide CIC, and works within the Vascular Surgery team at Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford for diabetic limb salvage surgery.

In 2017 Ewan became a Surgical Tutor in Podiatric Surgery. He was appointed as Chair of the Southern Deanery for Podiatric Surgery in 2020 for 3 years, sitting on the Royal College of Podiatry Faculty of Podiatric Surgery Board in the role of Vice-Dean from July 2021 and Dean from 2024. He is the co-chair of the annual scientific conference for podiatric surgery (FOPS Conference) for 2022 and 2023.

He is a reviewer for 'The Podiatrist' the main print Podiatry journal in the UK, has been an instructor for Marquardt fixation at their annual lower limb surgery cadaver courses in Frankfurt, works as a consultant for Novastep and has lectured for Acumed. He is an affiliate lecturer for the University of Huddersfield Masters in Podiatric Surgery programme and sits on the medical advisory committee (MAC) at the Phoenix Hospital Chelmsford. He has been on teaching & demo faculty for US guided injections at ARU with theultrasoundsite.co.uk team. Ewan is a Designated Prescribing Practitioner with Anglia Ruskin University and has successfully mentored nurses, physios and podiatrists to become independent prescribers, surgical first assistants, and advanced clinical practitioners.

Mr Kannegieter has memberships of; Royal Society of Medicine, Royal College of Podiatry and its Faculty of Podiatric Surgery, The Health and Care Professions Council, the International Association of Diabetic Foot Surgeons (IADFS), The American Limb Preservation Society and the Artificial Intelligence in Medicine organisation.
