About me
Are you worried about your child's development (under 10 years old) and what they may need at home or school? Are you pregnant or thinking about becoming pregnant and fearful about parenthood or family life? Are you a mother or father with a baby or young child and feeling anxious or worried about your relationships with your child, partner, work colleagues or wider family?
I am a Consultant Parent, Child and Family Psychiatrist and Psychotherapist. My training is as a medical doctor and a wide range of psychotherapeutic techniques including family therapy. I listen carefully with empathy. I will share recommendations to provide a holistic approach for your predicament, that may include further treatment with myself, or other psychological, wider health or social interventions.
Becoming and being a parent is extraordinary, joyous, exhausting, relentless and more. My expertise is being able to bring my breadth and depth of experience and training to assess and understand what is happening for you, your family and with your child.
Who do I see and with what kind of issues?
Adults: Emotional distress and mental health problems including anxiety, sadness and grief during motherhood and fatherhood
Children under 10: developmental issues, behavioural problems, emotional distress; psychological, social and relationship difficulties affecting family and school; worries about ASD and ADHD
Families: sometimes the best way of addressing psychological and mental health problems is to meet with the whole family
Who and why we would meet
Meeting mums-to-be and dads-to-be during pregnancy; new mums and dads with their babies; parents in navigating the worries and predicaments of raising a family.
I am passionate about empowering parents with knowledge about how to parent children so that they grow up healthily and happily in our complex world and for family life to be more relaxed and fun. I have a good understanding of the impact of disability within a family's relationships and can support and advise.
I invite you to take the opportunity to consult with me about important issues affecting child and parent mental health: work, childcare, education and home life and your family and couple relationships.
