About me

I completed my specialist training in Anaesthesia in the Midlands. I undertook a one year fellowship in pain medicine in Leicester under the guidance of Professor Rowbotham, the first Dean of The Faculty of Pain Medicine. I was a founder member of this faculty. I was appointed as a consultant in Anaesthesia & Pain Medicine in 2007.
During my training I spent one year in Perth Australia. It was here that I developed an interest in pain whilst I was a rheumatology registrar. I gained a valuable insight into chronic diseases like rheumatoid arthritis and the relationship with pain, mood and function.
On my return to the UK, I completed a post in haematology and oncology. I developed a deep understanding of cancer related pain and pain at the end of life.
I manage pain of any origin and give advice regarding medications, lifestyle and appropriate intervention.
I specialise in treatments like radio frequency lesioning which attempts to prolong pain relief and is NICE approved for low back pain.
I perform Botox for migraines that is also NICE approved. I believe it is always in the best interests of the patient to avoid surgery where possible.
My aim is to keep people at work or return them to work as soon as possible. For those who are not working or retired I endeavour to maintain function and quality of life.
I am a very good listener and will talk through individualised and specific treatment plans to help patients either recover from or manage their pain better.
