About me
I am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist registered with the HCPC and a Chartered Member of the British Psychological Society, with over 20 years' experience working with individuals across a wide range of psychological difficulties.
My approach is integrative, meaning I draw on the evidence-based methods that are best suited to you rather than working from a single model. In practice, this includes CBT, EMDR, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Analytic Therapy, Schema Therapy, and DBT, among others. I also have a longstanding research interest in emotional intelligence and how it shapes the way we relate to ourselves and to others.
What I have found over the years is that most people don't just want to feel less bad they want to feel more like themselves. So while we will absolutely work on what's bringing you difficulty right now, we will also pay attention to what you value, what kind of life you actually want to be living, and what might be getting in the way of that.
Therapy with me tends to feel like a genuine conversation rather than a clinical exercise. I take what you bring seriously, I am direct when that is helpful, and I believe that with the right support, most people are capable of more change than they expect.
Areas of interest
As human beings, we are remarkably good at getting caught up in our own thoughts and losing sight of what actually matters to us. That is often what brings people to therapy - not just a specific problem, but a sense of being stuck, disconnected, or not quite living the life they wanted.
I don't come with a fixed script or a one-size-fits-all approach. Therapy with me is a collaborative process where we work together to understand what is keeping you stuck and what needs to shift. I have a genuine respect for each person's individuality, and I believe that with the right support, most people are capable of making real and lasting change.
I work with a wide range of presentations, including trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, phobias, OCD, adjustment difficulties, major life transitions, relationship difficulties, self-esteem, addiction, grief, sexual identity, career and employment challenges, and ADHD and neurodiversity. I also work with couples.
