About me

Dr Haag qualified in 1996 at University of Tübingen, Germany. After finishing his M.D. he completed his post-graduate training in the UK which included a rotation in Anaesthesia in Merseyside and a Pain Fellowship in Liverpool.
In 1997 he was appointed as a Consultant, leading a progressive multi-disciplinary Pain Service at Wrexham Maelor Hospital, North Wales.
He has a strong interest in interventional pain medicine which he teaches widely at national and international courses. He successfully co-runs an international cadaver workshop on Radiofrequency techniques at the University of Hamburg, currently 4 times a year. With a strong commitment for better research in Pain Medicine he set up the “National Spinal RF Registry” which he currently chairs. In 2018 he was made Visiting Professor for Social & Life Sciences at Glwndyr University, Wrexham where he is involved in teaching Master and PhD degree students.

Areas of interest

Interventional Pain Medicine (image guided injections into joints and spine, trigger point injections etc); extensive Radio-frequency (RF) procedures, including cooled RF; Back pain; non-surgical management of Knee, Hip and Shoulder pain; Neuropathic pain; Headache and facial pain, incl. Trigeminal Neuralgia; widespread body pain conditions (Fibromyalgia); Pain Management Programme; close interdisciplinary relations with spinal, orthopaedic, general Surgery and Rheumatology.
