About me
Vivek Datta is a Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon, having qualified from the University of London in 1993, where his specialist surgical training included fellowships at St Marks University College Hospital, London. He went on to complete a research MD at the Imperial College.
With over 25 years’ experience in his field Mr Datta works in both the NHS & Private Sector. He was appointed as a Colorectal Consultant at Guys and St Thomas Hospital in 2007. Experienced in all aspects of colorectal surgery, including, but not limited to, rectal bleeding and pain, inflammatory bowel disease, colorectal cancer, colonoscopy, intestinal failure, hernia and emergency general surgery. He holds a specialist interest in laparoscopic colorectal surgery, exploring post-operative enhanced recovery, minimalised pain, healing time and optimised cosmetic results.
Mr Datta continues to train and regularly attends seminars, conferences and lectures, where he has been an invited speaker on multiple occasions. He is passionate about teaching and is on the steering group for the National Training Programme in Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery.
