About me
Justin Davies is a globally renowned expert and key opinion leader in the field of colorectal surgery. He works as a specialist Consultant Colorectal and General Surgeon in Cambridge. He has been a Consultant in the Cambridge Colorectal Unit at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust since 2007, where he is also Deputy Medical Director, and he has held significant national and international leadership positions in colorectal surgery. He is an Affiliated Associate Professor at the University of Cambridge and a Fellow of Downing College, Cambridge. Justin has served as President of both of the United Kingdom's national colorectal surgery societies, namely The Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland, and The Royal Society of Medicine Section of Coloproctology. His strong academic and educational interests have resulted in publishing over 275 peer-review publications and book chapters, and being Co-Editor of 2 surgical textbooks.
His clinical areas of interest are in minimally invasive treatments, including for haemorrhoids (HALO/THD) . He has a significant experience in laparoscopic (keyhole) and open surgery for colon cancer, rectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease (including Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis), diverticular disease, ileoanal pouch surgery, general proctology (fistula, fissure, abscess, skin tags, etc) and colonoscopy for the investigation of rectal bleeding and change in bowel habits. He treats patients with abdominal wall and groin hernias. He is trained in robotic colorectal surgery, and recently led nationally on a position statement for training future robotic surgeons.
