About me
After graduating from the University of London, the early part of my paediatric training was completed in posts at Great Ormond Street Hospital, The Royal Brompton Hospital, Hammersmith Hospital and St Mary's Hospital Paddington. I then spent 6 years training in posts within the Oxford Region, which included 3 years at the John Radcliffe Hospital in posts in Cardiology, Paediatric Intensive Care, Respiratory and Neonatal Medicine.
In my principal NHS Consultant post I look after children with a very wide range of general and more specialised paediatric problems. I have significant expertise in caring for infants and children with cow’s milk allergy, feeding problems, reflux, failure to thrive, abdominal pain, headache and asthma. I also see around 400 children each year with heart-related symptoms, including chest pain, heart murmur, palpitations, collapse and breathlessness.
I have full access to a wide range of diagnostic modalities, including x-ray, ultrasound, MRI and neurophysiology, and will personally undertake ECG, ECHO and phlebotomy. Recognising the key importance of exploring every aspect of a child’s illness, I work very closely with a multidisciplinary team that includes a dietitian, physiotherapist, psychologist and dedicated children’s nurse.
I have published over 20 articles in peer-reviewed journals and on-line on subjects as diverse as headache, migraine, reflux, vaccination, pneumonia and heart disease. In my NHS post I am both audit lead and clinical lead for cardiology.
