About me

I have wide experience in Robotic radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer, laparoscopic nephrectomies, open radical nephrectomies and nephro-ureterectomies for renal and transitional cell cancer.

HIFU
I am offering salvage High Intensity focused Ultrasound for post radiotherapy failure prostate cancer patients at the Winterbourne Hospital in Dorchester.

STONE MANAGEMENT
Stone management has changed a lot in the last decade. Open surgery has been virtually replaced by endoscopic procedures and keyhole surgery. I have successfully developed percutaneous nephrolithotomy service for the region. All complex stag horn renal calculi are now managed locally.
I am also treating upper and lower urinary tract stones. One of my operating lists every week is booked for cysto-litholapaxy, ureteroscopy and EHL/EKL for ureteric stones.

I have also developed ESWL service for the region.

ROBOTIC SURGERY
I have wide experience in Robotic surgery. I regularly audit and submit my RARP cases to BAUS database. My work load is around 80-90 Robotically Assisted Radical prostatectomies per year.
I have devised a novel technique of RARP which I presented at the, European Robotic Surgery meeting in Milan ERUS 2016 & later at EAU in 2019



ENDOUROLOGY
I am performing most of the core endourological procedures; these include procedures like TURP, TURBT, optical urethrotomies, ureteroscopies, EKL and EHL of ureteric stones, cystolitholapaxies, retrograde pyelograms & insertion of JJ stents.

LAPAROSCOPIC SURGERY
I have wide experience in laparoscopic Urological surgery. I routinely perform laparoscopic nephrectomies, lapraroscopic pyeloplasties, laparoscopic radical prostatectomies and exploratory laparoscopies.


TRANSPERINEAL TEMPLATE BIOPSIES
I have developed Transperineal Template Biopsy service for Dorset. I have introduced a new technique for prostate mapping.

OPEN SURGERY & TRAUMA.
I have a wide experience of open surgery and urological trauma. Our hospital is a regional trauma centre with a helipad adjacent to the A&E where casualties are brought in via air ambulance. Over the years I have managed and operated upon numerous urological trauma cases, like renal trauma, bladder and urethral injuries.
I routinely perform open procedures like radical nephrectomies, radical nephro-ureterectomies, pyeloplasties and radical retropubic prostatectomies on my main operating lists. Minor procedures like hydrocelectomies, circumcisions and epididymal cysts etc are performed at the Day Surgery Unit.
