About me
Kerstin trained in Germany, Ireland and Singapore, qualified as a specialist General Surgeon in 2000 and as a Plastic Surgeon in one of the biggest plastic surgery units in Europe (Germany) in 2006. Her hand surgery fellowship qualified her as a Hand and Wrist Surgeon in 2007.
She did advanced training in wrist arthroscopy in Strasbourg/France and Derby/UK. Kerstin has been registered in the GMC specialist register in the UK since 2006 (GMC 6154004). She has been a Consultant Plastic and Hand Surgeon in one of the largest Plastic Surgery Departments in the UK in Salisbury from 2007-2014 and in the Birmingham Children’s Hospital from 2014-2022.
Next to her NHS commitment she has been in private practice since 2008. Kerstin’s interest within the Plastic Surgery is upper limb, hand and wrist surgery including, wrist arthroscopy and paediatric/congenital upper limb surgery. Hand and wrist conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, post traumatic arthritis and acute trauma of hand and wrist, congenital hand conditions. ganglia, carpal tunnel, Dupuytren’s Disease, trigger fingers and thumb base pain.
Within plastic surgery Kerstin sees patients for skin lesions, scar treatment, as well as general plastic surgery procedures. She further treats children with a variety of plastic surgery and hand surgery conditions.
Within her interest in cosmetic surgery, she offers body shaping (i.e., tummy tuck, arm/ thigh lift procedures), pinnaplasty, breast surgery (augmentation, reduction, uplift), gynaeco plastic surgery (labiaplasty), skin lesions and scar revisions.
Kerstin has taken part in numerous courses and conferences in hand surgery, microsurgery and aesthetic surgery throughout her training internationally. Parallel with her surgical training, she did a Master degree in Healthcare Management at the University in Germany and a degree on European Healthcare Leadership at the INSEAD Business School in France. She was granted an award for the Leadership Award Scheme by the Health Foundation/London in 2009.
Kerstin has been invited internationally to lecture and teach as invited speaker and faculty member. She has presented over 40 publications of original articles, book chapters and review papers in peer reviewed journals. Kerstin speaks fluently English and German, in her spare time, she enjoys travelling, classical music, golf and skiing.
