About me
I have been a general & colorectal specialist consultant surgeon at Frimley Park Hospital for over 17 years now.
I was the endoscopy lead for 5 years and obtained JAG reaccreditation for the unit and I continue to carry out regular endoscopic lists including OGD, flexible sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy and polypectomy procedures.
As a surgeon, my specialist interest of colorectal surgery includes cancer resections, surgery for inflammatory bowel disease & diverticular disease as well as endometriosis cases when necessary. I have carried out laparoscopic colorectal resections throughout my consultant career and trained other consultants as part of the national laparoscopic immersion programme.
I have been NELA surgical lead for the past 9 years which is the national programme for improving quality and outcomes in emergency abdominal surgery.
I have extensive experience in investigating and treating anorectal conditions such as haemorrhoids, anal fissures, rectoceles and rectal prolapse as well as complex anal fistulae.
In terms of general surgery, I continue to perform open mesh repair of inguinal and abdominal wall hernias with selected use of keyhole surgery. I continue to carry out laparoscopic cholecystectomies and surgery for pilonidal sinus disease as well as minor ops lumps and bumps.
Typical symptoms that I investigate include unexplained weight loss, loss of appetite & reflux, rectal bleeding, abdominal pain, changes in bowel habit, perianal & abdominals lumps and perianal/natal cleft discharge.
