About me

Dr Ahmad is an experienced Consultant Haematologist specialising in the treatment of a broad range of blood and bone marrow disorders. He has specialist expertise in both haematological medicine and pathology, developed through comprehensive training at King's College Hospital and St Thomas Hospital, London.

He has been working as a substantive consultant haematologist at the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust and has a strong commitment to compassionate, patient-centred care. He has led services that have been recognised and revalidated for Clinical Service Excellence by Myeloma UK, the UK's leading myeloma charity. In 2009, he received the Health and Social Care Award for Patient Safety for his innovative work in in prevention of blood clots. Alongside clinical practice, he has a keen interest in clinical research and have served as Principal Investigator for Queens Hospital Burton for several national haematology trials.

Dr Ahmad also holds a Master's degree in Medical Leadership and over the years has served in many senior leadership roles at his Trust, as the Regional Advisor for the Royal College of Pathologists and as a Trustee on the Board of the British Society for Haematology.

Dr Ahmad is a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists (FRCPath) and also a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP Edin)
