Professor Saad Amer
Consultant Gynaecologist
Professor Saad Amer is an experienced Consultant Gynaecologist based in Derby, specialising in the management of endometriosis, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), menstrual disorders, fibroids, ovarian cysts, and chronic pelvic pain.
He sees private patients at Nuffield Health Derby Hospital and Derby Private Health at the Royal Derby Hospital, and holds an NHS position at Derby Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Professor Amer completed his medical degree (MB BCh) and MSc in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Ain Shams University, Cairo, before moving to the UK to pursue advanced training. He went on to obtain an MD in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from the University of Sheffield and is a Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG).
He completed his specialist training at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Sheffield, where he also undertook a Research Fellowship in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery.
Alongside his clinical work, Professor Amer has a strong academic background and has previously worked as a Clinical Lecturer at the University of Sheffield. He has published over 70 peer-reviewed papers, regularly presents at international conferences, and is invited to speak at national meetings.
Professor Amer has a particular interest in minimally invasive (keyhole) surgery and delivering evidence-based, patient-centred care. His contributions to specialist services, particularly in PCOS, have been recognised with a Clinical Excellence Award.
He is a member of several professional organisations, including the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG), British Fertility Society (BFS), European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE), and the British Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy (BSGE).
