About me

Hello, I am a Consultant Clinical Psychologist. I worked within the NHS for twenty years and in my own practice based here in Rodney Street, Liverpool since 2007. I work in-person and also online.

I have had the honour of working with people from all different backgrounds, who are experiencing a wide range of difficulties, often as a result of change, trauma, illness, or harmful relationships and situations.

Providing a safe, accepting and compassionate space to talk is essential. My approach combines this with my professional training in evidence-based practice and long clinical experience. Each person I work with is offered a tailored assessment to arrive at an understanding of how things have become stuck or difficult. We then decide on the best therapeutic ways forward towards the person's specific goals and preferred future.

I have a particular interest and expertise in working with people who have experienced trauma, either as a singular event, multiple events or distressing living or working environments. I have recently received an award in relation to my work with trauma in the maritime industry.

As a Practitioner Psychologist, I am registered and regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). I am also an accredited practitioner of Eye-Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), which is an effective therapy for trauma, and a range of anxiety-based problems.

Areas of interest

Post-traumatic stress; adjustment to change; depression; anxiety-based problems including phobia, OCD, social phobia, excessive worry, panic; interpersonal problems; difficulties managing emotion; eating-related problems; work and living stress.

I work with people over 18 years old.
