About me
I studied medicine at St George’s Hospital Medical School in London and graduated in 1994 with Distinctions. I completed specialist training in rheumatology in the Oxford region and had additional training in neurorehabilitation and medical pain management, including an MSc in pain Management with Distinction. I was appointed Consultant Rheumatologist at Basingstoke and North Hampshire NHS Foundation trust in 2007 and now have an Honorary Consultant Contract with the Trust. In 2011, I was elected National Healthcare Champion by the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society.
Before training in medicine, I completed an Honours degree in physiology and biochemistry with nutrition and then trained as an osteopath at the British School of Osteopathy, graduating with Honours. I then worked as an osteopath and osteopathic tutor for 5 years. Since completing medical training, I have extended an interest in complementary therapies with training in medical acupuncture and now use this as an adjunct to conventional medical treatments for pain management. I am also a medical cannabis prescriber via Sapphire Medical Clinics where I work as a consultant rheumatologist and specialist in pain management. I am also a qualified yoga teacher. I have completed the British Menopause Society course in the Principles and Practice of Menopause Care.
