About me
Dr Hobson undertook specialist cardiology training in Sheffield. His research involved the utilization of stress echocardiography in assessing the heamodynamic profiles of native and prosthetic heart valves. This work provided publications of original papers as well as his MD award in 2005.
Dr Hobson specialized in the field of interventional electrophysiology and spent a fellowship year in The Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney Australia where he received extensive training in the management of patients with cardiac arrhythmias before returning to the UK to complete his training
Dr Hobson was appointed Consultant Cardiologist / Electrophysiologist at Castle Hill in 2006. He also practises at and Spire Hull and East Riding Hospital. He provides undertaking electrophysiological ablation of cardiac arrhythmias (including atrial fibrillation ablations) to a regional population of 1.2 million.
Dr Hobson is also dedicated to the screening of patients with a family history of sudden cardiac death (SCD) as well as treating those deemed at high risk from SCD with the implantation of cardiac defibrillators/pacemakers
Dr Hobson's other interest is treating heart failure with pioneering biventricular pacemakers. He implants the systems and follow up these patients performing optimisation of the devices utilising cardiac ultrasound (Echocardiography).
