About me
Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. Honorary Senior Lecturer at Glasgow University.
Mr Downie graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 1991 with distinctions in Bachelor of Dental Surgery. Following that, he obtained a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Dundee in 1997. He has also been awarded Fellowships in Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons London, Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh and Royal College of Surgeons Glasgow in 2000, 2005 and 2007 respectively. In addition, he has received many distinction awards in areas such as Anatomy, Prosthetics and Radiology.
His special interests lie in facial aesthetic and reconstructive surgery. In his private practice his interests include all aspect of oral and facial surgery especially rhitidectomy (face lifts), facial rejuvenation and the use of fillers and botulinum toxins to name a few.
Mr Downie is a member of a variety of organizations including the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgeons. He is widely published and has presented in many international meetings as well as involved in the creation and facilitation of many training courses.
Mr Downie is a regular speaker in schools, prisons and radio Scotland. Mr John Jeffrey Downie is a consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon/ Facial Plastic Surgeon.
