About me
I was appointed as a Consultant Gastroenterologist at Macclesfield District General Hospital in 2006. Over the years, I have built on my experience in clinical practice and research. My areas of interest range widely from general gastroenterology and advanced endoscopy to hepatology.
I have a particular interest in the diagnosis and treatment of reflux disease, including Bravo capsule assessment and treatment with the Stretta procedure.
I see patients with all gastrointestinal complaints, including reflux, indigestion, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, constipation, weight loss, irritable bowel syndrome, food intolerance, and rectal bleeding.
I manage patients with complex inflammatory bowel disease such as Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, and microscopic colitis, as well as those with liver disease.
I participate in weekly IBD and HPB multidisciplinary meetings and currently serve as Lead for Endoscopy. I am also an examiner for accreditation within the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme.
I perform the full range of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including gastroscopy, colonoscopy, polypectomy, endoluminal stenting, dilatations, PEG/PEJ tube insertion, EUS, and ERCP, having completed more than 10,000 procedures to date.
My patients find me approachable, as I take time to listen to their concerns, work collaboratively with them, and aim to provide the best available treatments and solutions.
I work closely with colleagues in surgery, radiology, gynaecology, and other specialties to ensure the best outcomes for my patients.
I graduated with distinction from the Medical University of Gda?sk, where I also completed my basic medical training. I subsequently pursued research at Imperial College London, followed by a PhD and postdoctoral research at Oxford University. I completed my gastroenterology training in Birmingham and undertook a short sabbatical in New Zealand.
Alongside my clinical work, I maintain a strong interest in research. I am a principal investigator for multiple gastroenterology trials and contributed to the latest British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG) guidelines on inflammatory bowel disease.
