About me
Dr Sarkar was appointed as a Consultant Gastroenterologist at University Hospitals Aintree in April 2004 before moving to the Royal Liverpool University Hospitals as a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Endoscopist in January 2009. Dr Sarkar was the Director of Endoscopy at Royal Liverpool University Hospital for 9 years which is 1 of only 3 national Endoscopy Training centres in the UK. He is currently the Clinical Director for the Liverpool & Wirral Bowel Screening Centre and the Professional Clinical Advisor for Endoscopy for the North West Bowel Cancer Screening Quality Assurance Team. His other roles includes one of only ten national lead inspectors/assessors for JAG (the accreditation body for endoscopy units in the UK), a faculty member as an endoscopy trainer for the Mersey School of Endoscopy and a national examiner for endoscopists who want to perform bowel screening. Dr Sarkar specialist interests include interventional endoscopy including Bowel cancer screening, EMR, ERCP & EUS. He is also a member of the Supra-specialist regional MDT for upper GI cancer and runs a specialist tertiary referral practice for UGI & Oesophageal disorders/disease
