About me
I have been a Practising Psychologist in the NHS since 2002 with experience of working in a variety of specialist settings in Mental Health. This includes working with a wide range of diagnoses as well as severity levels from mild and moderate to severe and enduring mental health in adults.
I also have significant experience of working with a range of physical health conditions to help in managing distress and adapt to limitations resulting from the health condition to improve quality of life.
My specialist interest is in trauma work especially around helping individuals to adjust after a traumatic life event. Within this, I have specialised in working with Veterans.
Although my theoretical thinking is mostly driven by Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focussed Therapy (SFT), I place more importance on the impact of life experiences and situations on an individual in the “here and now”. I believe in helping people to achieve a better quality of life rather than be held a prisoner to any specific diagnosis.
By updating my knowledge and practice of evidence based therapies regularly allows me to offer therapy that is in line with your specific needs.
