About me

Consultant in General Internal Medicine, Diabetes & Endocrinology with special interest in neuro-endocrinology.

Dr. Darzy acquired his dual specialist certification (CCST) in general medicine and diabetes & endocrinology in 2006. He has been working as a Consultant Physician, Diabetologist and Endocrinologist at East & North Hertfordshire NHS Trust since August 2006.

His endocrine clinical research and sub-specialised endocrine training at the Christie Hospital NHS Trust in Manchester between 2000 and 2003 and the subsequent intensive training at Bart’s and the London Hospitals between 2003 and 2006 have provided him with breadth of experience in diabetes, general and complex endocrine diseases, adolescent endocrinology, infertility, obesity, metabolic and bone disorders and endocrine cancer. He had extensive research experience which mainly involved hormonal complications of cancer treatment and pituitary disorders with numerous novel publications and reviews in this field.

He is currently the Endocrine Lead for the thyroid cancer MDT in East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. He is the Lead Clinician for Endocrine Late Effects of Cancer Treatment and the management of diabetes and endocrine disease in pregnancy. He has taken a special interest in adolescent endocrinology. He has been leading on the development and the provision of insulin pump therapy for patients with complex type 1 diabetes. He is heavily involved in the design and the organisation of an extensive clinical audit programme in diabetes and endocrinology in the Trust to maintain high quality service and safe practice.

Through his links and membership with various professional bodies, Dr. Darzy always endeavours to maintain his knowledge up-to-date with advances and progress in the management of diabetes and endocrine disease. He tends to refer patients with very complex endocrine disease that require the input of a tertiary centre to St. Bartholomew’s Hospital in London, which is a world class centre for endocrinology.
