About me

I am a Consultant General and Vascular Surgeon with over 30 years of clinical experience in the UK. I have a longstanding commitment to caring for patients in the Derbyshire region, providing both NHS and private surgical care.
I graduated from the University of Leeds with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MB ChB) in 1993, and also hold a BSc (Hons). I later completed a Doctor of Medicine (MD) research degree in vascular surgery. I was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and my specialist FRCS (General Surgery) qualification in 2005.
I was appointed as a Consultant Vascular Surgeon at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust in 2006, where I have spent many years caring for patients at the Royal Derby Hospital. I manage a wide range of both routine and complex vascular and general surgical conditions.

My practice includes:

Treatment of varicose veins and venous conditions
Hernia repair (including inguinal, umbilical, and sports hernias)
Minor surgical procedures, including removal of skin lesions
General and vascular surgical conditions

I have experience in both traditional open surgery and modern minimally invasive and day-case procedures.

I aim to provide high-quality, personalised care to every patient. I understand that surgery can be a worrying experience, so I take time to explain conditions and treatment options clearly, helping patients feel informed and reassured.
My focus is on:

Safe, effective treatment tailored to the individual
Clear communication and shared decision-making
Achieving the best possible outcomes with a smooth recovery

I also see private patients at Nuffield Health Derby Hospital for consultations and treatment.
