About me

Dr Takeda completed his undergraduate medical studies from the University of London gaining his MBBS degree in 1992. He received his Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training in Cardiology and General Internal Medicine in 2006, and holds an NHS post at Maidstone Hospital, Kent.

He has a specialist interest in heart failure and is the heart failure enhancing quality lead for Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. He was a research Fellow at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital and did substantive research into valvular heart disease and has published internationally. He has an additional specialist interest in cardiac imaging and echocardiography and developed the stress echo service at Maidstone Hospital as well as CT coronary angiography at the new Tunbridge Wells Hospital.

He also has a specialist interest in pacing and developed the complex device service (ICD's and biventricular pacemakers) at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells which is now the largest in Kent.

He has been Clinical Lead for cardiology services at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells from 2012 to 2017.

Areas of interest

I treat and investigate patients with chest pain; shortness of breath; palpitations; symptoms of dizziness or blackouts; heart murmurs; atrial fibrillation/ AF.
I have a specialist interests in patients with heart failure;
and also cardiac imaging; I perform echocardiograms; stress echo (DSE); transoesophageal echo (TOE); bubble contrast echo; as well as cardiac CT; - including calcium scoring; and full CT coronary angiograms.

My other area of specialist interest is implanting pacemakers (cardiac device therapy);
I implant single and dual chamber pacemakers and complex devices - such as Implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICD's); or heart failure pacemakers (biventricular pacemakers - CRTP/D devices).
