About me

Mr Carpenter has been a consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in Poole since May 2006 and was the Clinical Director of Maternity & Gynaecology from 2010 to 2014. He is the lead clinician of the Dorset Endometriosis Centre, a BSGE accredited centre in England for the surgical treatment of severe endometriosis. He was a council member of the British Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy between 2011 and 2017, is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecture to Southampton University and Associate Professor to St George's Medical School, Grenada. He was the Director of the British Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy / Olympus National Laparoscopic Hysterectomy Training programme and is on the training faculty for minimal access surgery at the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
Prior to his appointment he was the Clinical Fellow in Advanced Minimal Access Surgery at the Minimal Access Therapy Training Unit (MATTU), Guildford, which is one of the leading centres for laparoscopic surgery both in the UK and worldwide. Whilst there, in addition to training in advance laparoscopic surgery, he completed a research thesis (medical doctorate) into endometriosis.

Mr Carpenter undertakes all advanced laparoscopic gynaecological procedures currently available and has a special interest in endometriosis surgery. This includes radical excision of endometriosis.
