About me
Following completion of orthopaedic training within the London Deanery, I undertook specialist training in spinal surgery across centres in London, Liverpool, and Nottingham.
I have worked as a Consultant Spinal Surgeon at University Hospitals Derby & Burton NHS Foundation Trust for over 20 years. During this time, I have held key leadership roles, including Head of Spinal Services at Royal Derby Hospital, and served as Lead Clinician for Spinal Cancer Services for 10 years.
My clinical practice focuses on microscopic and minimally invasive spinal surgery, with the aim of reducing recovery times and improving patient outcomes.
Patient outcomes from my practice are recorded in the British Spine Registry, where data from approximately 799 patients undergoing lumbar spine surgery demonstrates significant improvement in both leg and back pain following treatment. I regularly participate in complex case discussions and morbidity and mortality meetings to continually review and enhance my practice.
Alongside my clinical work, I am actively involved in teaching medical students and orthopaedic trainees, as well as research, with over 30 publications in peer-reviewed journals.
